Production breif:

Production Project Treatment: BRIEF 3 FILM MARKETING
Production brief: A cross media production to market and promote a new film in a genre or subgenre hybrid of your choice. There are two main tasks:
Task 1: DVD cover; back front and spine, poster for thematic release and landscapes banner poster.
Task 2: Audio visual audio, sequence from mainstream radio or television breakfast show 2min- 2 min 30.

Task 1:
Genre and brief synopsis of film:
Genre: thriller/romance, a story of an old man who lost his wife, but no one knows, his use of editing and hacking Is used to keep her alive through the media until the cause of her death is revealed, based on a true story as that will attract the older demographic.

Task 2:
Name and genre of TV/RADIO programme:
Breakfast Talk show – bringing in our key actors and talking to them about how the process was
Introduction wrote and plan script location and separate
Interview director fan actor name of radio who will be in it
Texts to be produced – how do they link /converge?

My texts will be recognizably related through the Intertextually and synergy  through the recognizable actor who will be featured also the pixelated edit theme which I aim to use in order to allude to narrative, a synergistic link between media products something recognisable in both.
Target Audience: (from research, HOW will you target this audience?)

Targeting a 30-49-year-old audience but also some others through the casting of older actors and the theme of loss at an old age and the struggle could be somewhat relatable as he’s dealing with day to day life. Establish Genre media language the technical codes and cinematography with sharp cuts and close up camera work immersing audience in thriller and romance and narrative also with the contrast in lighting with high-key and low-key lighting being used to intensify mood. Main male protagonist middle-aged Caucasian male, upper class. Located in central London a busy town with everything at your fingertips, age rate 15 title: illusion.
Apply theorist:
-Steve Neale Genre theory
Application of MEDIA LANGUAGE (Visual, technical, language codes)
Casting of middle age actors, a lot of close ups to create an emotive and relatable opening. Dialogue will be limited as there is a lot to be revealed. Camera shots vary, tracking shots opening with an establishing crane shot. Panning revealing the costume and dress code, which will be relatable to a 30-49 audience the man will be middle aged, brown hair which is slightly greying and be dressed in a collared t shirt with jeans rather smart casual, glasses looking rather average and not hinting to his psycho acts which are slowly revealed. Narrative will include small piece of voice over positioning audience with man protagonist to begin with until ultimately being conflicted between what is wrong but the intention from camera being to keep you with the man who ultimately in the wrong.
-Steve Neale genre theory

-Roland Barthes semiotics.
REPRESENTATIONS and how they will be constructed:
There representation of the older demographic is subverted as its unexpected for him to challenge what’s expected, as stereotypically the newer generations are better with technology. Also representation of the social media good as it's comforting however also negative as someone was able to be alive through someone else.through technical codes, angles, costume etc and narrative, genre and mode of address
-Stuart Hall representation theory
INDUSTRY: HOW is this reflected in production, distribution and marketing:
A mainstream production shown through the editing and camera shots and the actors and the locations seen, a lot of money gone into production and its marketed put on landscape banners and theatrical posters.High  Production value, distribution methods billboards etc.
-Curran and Seaton power and media industries

Recce images:

These images photographed by me in Yorkshire of my main protagonist 49 year old male close up and focus shots of the camera and phone showing the technology and his hobby. A natural Yorkshire environment a lot of greenery also with miserably weather raining and the couple walking and showing different locations on a bridge, woods, by a field.
In my media product i would like to have some footage from central london however also contrast that with a suburban area such as yorkshire with my two main protagonists of the man and wife.

DVD cover:

These film covers convey my idea which is to have a landscape being shown of central London showing an iconic location but focusing directly on one Male middle aged protagonist and you see in these your attention is drawn to one actor, through camera shot, focus and blurring and lack of distraction so having image focused on them. Having the man's camera focused on in the image. Then my Banner poster i want the camera in close up with his hand to have the title release date and rating. Image on the right and on the left. Similarly the the poster i want an image of the protagonist establishing location

Targeting my audience [30-49]

AUDIENCE RESEARCH: COMPONENT 3:

MEDIA LANGUAGE:
The target audience of 30-49 year olds share many variations of preferences with movies and advertisements, there's the difference between a middle aged male and middle aged woman preferences, differences of religions and beliefs, different fields of work, their family orientation etc. All these many things possibly affecting what attracts them to a media text. Once reaching a certain age it's possibly not as interesting watching high school romance dramas or possibly even some horrors although all genres will have a variation of an audience. I think to attract a wiser eye of our targeted audience there could be use of a more subtle editing not so flashy and exaggerated. Not an overwhelming cover drowning in bright colours and many young actors but possibly something with a landscape on the cover and key iconic actors. A you get older you value your time a lot more so i think they would be selective and be sure they are watching something worthwhile and possibly factual or relatable, or by a famous director which they've known to be good before for example Quentin Tarintino a well known director and producer that I can imagine would attract this age range.
Certain things in the media language that might attract them being his name standing out on the cover, simply seeing all the main actors and hinting to genre with the costume and iconography of weapons furthermore the colour red connoting danger and blood. Giving them an instant insight into what the movie will possibly entail and not having too much text but showing who and when which is all they need to know. Whereas ‘once upon a time in hollywood’ does have a bit more going on in the cover but once again you see Quentin Tarintino’s name along the top, then clearly giving close-ups of the key actors who all have big fan bases over a wide age variation due to the different genres they've starred in and how long they've been in the limelight and i could imagine many middle aged women being attracted to Leonardo D’caprio and Brad pitt while Males probably attracted by Margot Robbie. The simplistic colours not giving too much away but giving enough to invite an audience and the mini images possibly showing more towards the Genre.Media language will be used to atrac my 30-49 audience with the use of technical codes such as; cinematography camera angles and shots revealing relations, tension etc while also highlighting the lighting and presents the negative aspects in low-key lighting this also exposing the genre through the darkness and shots captured enhancing narrative ultimately enhancing story through the visual codes. Editing should be precise and neat not overly flashy as for an older demographic they will appreciate the narrative more and enjoy focusing on that. The Genre of the thriller romance is revealed in all visuals as well as the narrative and I will have a scene of revelation at the end which will ultimately be in dark lighting and cut in a way subverting our expectations.

REPRESENTATION:

Representation to a middle aged audience i would assume is of bigger value as they are possibly more intrigued by films with some form of meaning and films they can take something from, or a focus on something they feel strongly towards. An example of what kind of representations would attract them could be ‘The Hateful Eight’ Presents 8 actors all positioned in a line but in a way hinting to the genre through the iconography of guns and their costume of layers big coats only the central actor Samuel L Jackson being in a shirt possibly alluding to his dominant role in the film. Furthermore there's a woman lined up with the males which could be seen as unusual for the genre however is also progressive and the fact she is involved in the line and costume gives them the same level of authority and purpose in the film which could attract an older audience as its something noticeable to people who have grown up seeing constant issues with sexism which is an issue women of all ages feel a certain way towards. The use of visual codes and technical codes ultimately construct a representation of the older demographic and subverting that with the use of narrative as you will hear a voice over of the mourning while it's revealed at the end it was all an act. The thriller genre represented through the media language throughout. Also the mode of address clearly targeting the 30-49 audience and ultimately utilising what topics I chose to highlight in order to grab their attention more than a younger demographic.

INDUSTRIES:

Universal and Columbia are big film companies which release big blockbuster movies. Columbia was founded in 1918 while Universal was founded and started up 30th april 1912 so they have been around for years and years and have produced thousands of amazing films that were big hits for all age ranges. The middle aged audience possibly take interest in blockbuster movies as they target wider audiences and are advertised everywhere so in the day to day life they possibly find themselves seeing it alot more being to and from their work and big film companies often go the extra mile for advertisements so you may see billboards etc.

AUDIENCE:

The target audience is 30-49 and I think in this age gangs there is a lot of variety in lifestyles and preferences so I will be making a survey and interviewing a few members that fit the criteria. I will ask questions such as :

What is your favourite movie genre?
What attracts you to a film more the main actors or the director?
What makes a movie memorable to you?
What attracts you to a movie cover?
Do you often buy the DVD of your favourite movies?

Production location(s)Albert Dock (1988-1996, 2013)
Studio 8, The London Studios (1996-2018
TC3 Television Centre(2018-)

This Morning show targets a range of Audiences and in this particular episode they target a younger demographic with the topic of Love island which is a younger demographic aimed show and they discuss it and play a game which a lot of younger people can relate and say have played this game however could possibly still interest older demographics as their loyal audiences probably are more middle-aged so they could find amusement in the topic as its something they don't have much knowledge on.

Their constant two shots throughout the episode reflects the joint presenting and how they are working together, also the high key lighting keeping it positive and upbeat for the morning as no one wants to be watching something dark and gloomy first thing, also reflects their light-hearted humour and topics although they do discuss more serious issues as well as cooking, tv shows celebrity gossip etc.

BBC Radio 1: Radio interview:

Image result for BBC Radio 1-Ali Plumb-The Hunger Games- Jennifer Lawrence.mp4https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05yq0m6

This Radio Extract by Ali Plumb released 27 February 2018 speaks about Jennifer Lawrence experience playing the role of Katniss in The Hunger Games, a new movie which was doing very well at the time. This can be easily accessed on the BBC website, one of the many interviews by Ali plumb who interviews famous actors and specialises in movie interviews.Until recently, the studios were located in the basement of Yalding House (near to BBC Broadcasting House) which is on Great Portland Street in central London. They used to broadcast from two main studios in the basement. In Ali plumbs interviews you see they are in a dark studio with a personalized collage of the actors starring so making the main focus the actor and also reminding its a radio show so not made for watching necessarily.

Ali Plumb does a great amount of research on his actors before calling them in and this is shown through his interviews which is a good way to invite the audience into information no one really knows even Jennifer Lawrence was surprised by what He knew about her. HIs shows Vary but often around 10 minutes, and he makes it humorous and insightful and ultimately in a conversationalist style, not too formal targeting all audiences and even not only Jennifer Lawrence's fan base, as BBC Radio is an operational business division and service of the British Broadcasting Corporation. The service provides national radio stations covering the majority of musical genres, as well as local radio stations covering local news, affairs and interests, was founded in 1927and based in London and has a very wide range of listeners and represents all types of genres and demographics.
